Frequently Asked Questions

Is the course accredited?

Yes. Kraken Defense Group’s EMT Program is accredited by the Montana Board of Medical Examiners (BOME) and aligned  with NREMT standards, as well as American Heart Association, ASHI, and AAOS guidelines. Train from anywhere in the U.S. Accreditation and certification requirements vary by state so it is important to look into your governing guidelines.

What courses are available?

We offer three hybrid EMS training options:

  • EMR Course: 55 hours, $825

  • EMT Course: 150 hours, $1,150

How does the hybrid format work?

Complete your online coursework at your own pace, then complete required hands-on skills training in your local area  with Kraken Defense Group guidance and oversight.

How quickly can I finish?

Your timeline depends on your schedule, progress, and course requirements. Our flexible format allows you to work through online coursework at your own pace while completing required skills training and clinicals.

Who teaches the course?

Learn from experienced medical professionals, including family nurse practitioners, advanced EMTs, physicians, social workers, and critical care registered nurses.

What textbook is used?

The course uses Emergency Care and Transportation of the Sick and Injured, AAOS 13th Edition—an industry-standard EMT text.

Do I need to purchase the textbook?

Yes. Students receive a 20% discount through Kraken Defense Group’s exclusive buyer group. The code will be given during enrollment.

Are there any course requirements?

EMR Course: CPR certification is recommended before starting but must be completed by the midpoint of the course.  Students must also provide a sponsor letter from an agency willing to sign off on required clinicals.

EMT Course: Students must meet the program’s enrollment and clinical requirements, including providing a sponsor letter from an agency willing to sign off on required clinicals.

EMT to AEMT Bridge Course: Students must have been an EMT for two years or completed one certification cycle. A sponsor letter from an agency willing to sign off on required clinicals is also required. A sponsor letter template can be provided for your agency to complete if needed.

How are skills verified?

Skills are completed locally through a sponsoring agency whenever possible. If you’re unable to secure a sponsor, Kraken Defense Group can coordinate skills training for an additional fee. Training will preferably take place at our location, but we can travel to you if needed. All associated travel and lodging expenses will be the student’s responsibility.

Will this prepare me for the NREMT?

The EMT program is structured to prepare students for NREMT testing. Students pursuing EMR or AEMT certification should follow the applicable testing and certification requirements for their respective level.

What happens after I finish?

After successfully completing your course, you can pursue the applicable certification or testing process based on your program and state requirements. Completion of a course does not automatically guarantee certification. If enrolled in a payment plan for your course, Kraken Defense Group will not sign off on all certifications until payment has been completed.

Will I keep access to the training?

EMT students retain access to updated training videos for two years after purchase. Access terms for the EMR and EMT to AEMT Bridge courses should be confirmed with Kraken Defense Group.

Are payment plans available?

Flexible payment options are available. Contact Kraken Defense Group for details on available payment arrangements. Please note that payment plans must be complete before Kraken Defense Group will sign off on certifications.
